Week 5

Hi, everyone!
I have searched a lot of information about Project-Based Learning and I am perfectly satisfied the information suggested.
Project-based learning is a component of an inquiry-based approach to learning. In this approach, students create knowledge and understanding through learning activities built around intellectual inquiry and a high degree of engagement with meaningful tasks.
I think and agree with the authors of the sites that projects take the role traditionally afforded to assessments such as tests and quizzes. With the help of projects I can provide the demonstration of my students acquired knowledge in their individual or self way taking into consideration the variety of my student different learning styles and students will be successful in it.
I will involve 4 basic elements: 1) an extended time frame; 2) collaboration; 3) inquiry, investigation, and research; 4) the performance or submitting the project in my project-based learning activity.
So I think that project-based learning is a powerful tool in my repertoire of strategies. And it is very important for me to use the strategy at the right time and for the right reasons.
I should know the instructional needs, to ensure that content of the PBL is adequately addressed, to think if there is enough time, if the necessary resources available, If all students can be supported to produce high-quality work and so I encourage my students to become more autonomous learners
As rubrics I like them very much.
It is an excellent tool to assess the performances of my students.
At the lesson before they begin to do tasks students and me can discuss the tasks and criteria of the tasks. Students can see the gradations of quality (levels) for each dimension of the lesson and they know what dimensions are evaluated by them, by the teacher, by students.
So I am sure that with the help of rubrics the student expectations are clear, they know what to do to be successful.
They are able to evaluate the quality of their own work.
The usage of rubrics at every lesson is of great value.
With the help of alternative assessment students and the teacher know what needs to be done to successfully complete the class. It enables students to take responsibility for and self-direct some of their own learning. And learners have the chance to directly display their progress to their family members and others in their school and community.
Have a good time!

  1. Thanks for sharing what you read. I also read that PBL requires critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration, and communication skills, a whole range of higher-order thinking skills. What is good about PBL is the fact that students have to work as a team, listen to each other and read and write or make presentations. These are all 21st century skills we should start incorporating in our curricula.

      My WebQuest is in progress.
      Have a good time!

  2. I agree with Sandra and make me think about the five pillar of learning learning to know, learning to do, learning to live together , learning to be, and learning to change.Through PBL class and Rubrics can make them happen in class.Hope our students will learn together one day and make things happen be sure they will read the same pages with our efforts. Thanks for your sharing.

    1. Hi,Justin,I agree with you that PBL,Rubrics are the tools we should use at the lessons to teach our learners to be able to grapple with ambiguity of the modern world,to teach our learners to be responsible for what they do and will do tomorrow.
I like your idea about the learning process together.I hope that we prepare Web Quests and share our ideas.I think it is an excellent idea to submit the lessons together with the help of Web tools. It may be Skype. And our students will have the opportunity to communicate with each other on the theme we choose.Let's think it over.
      Have a good time!
